It is the safest and smartest route to reference stable numbers like region when dealing with higher value / rarer items for most people on most servers. You would have to set up a different sniper string for that. It will definitely not work for most high turnover lower value raw materials and items. The sniper set up I encouraged was for higher end higher efficiency purchases. Perhaps I could have been a little clearer on my video. So just note that as well, when thinking about the string. If I were to use sniper, I wouldn't want region prices be the main part for the string, certainly not the entirety of it, because it's just not possible to use it on my realm or on my fiancée's realm. We had to figure out some modifications to the strings to get the thing working for her. Half the transmog she's farmed end up showing "Above max price, posting at normal price" when using the strings from the post. Even the transmog group strings made by /u/BilisOnyxia and /u/Xionikandsheyrah in this post, which should help with odd realm markets, are nigh useless for her realm as the prices are just too high. Prices are all over the place due to low population. Then the same is true for my fiancée's realm, which is a very very tiny realm.

This string would be absolutely worthless to me. Some things like certain flasks were profitable even at rank 2 for just about the entirety of Legion.

Some transmog is steady at 30% region value while others are beyond 200%. Some Legion glyphs are ~1k gold while others are 15k. My realm is really wonky in a lot of ways. What really sucks about this, is that it uses the region market values. Hope this helps anyone who may be intimidated by the long string in the sniper view and just wants to make a few tweaks. So, if you have an item whose DBRegionMarketAvg is 75000g, then if the item is listed at 60% or lower of that price (45000g), then it will be shown in the sniper view. The item will also be shown if the item is below the vendor sell price. What this string says is take the DBRegionMarketAvg and multiply it by a percentage to determine if it should be shown in the sniper view, if it is below that value. The sniper string for the default sniper operation is: max(vendorsell, TSM 4 now comes with a default group with default operations.
